As a recipient of an ASI ‘SMART Company’ Scholarship I was fortunate to attend PMI’s Certified Associate in Project Manager (CAPM) course. The course provided me with knowledge regarding the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) - a framework for best practices in effective project management.
As a member of the IT team in a not for profit organisation I am appreciative of this valuable skill as resources (human and financial) are stretched, and having the luxury of a project manager as a member of staff is rare. Given that almost all endeavours undertaken by the organisation have some form of interface to a computer system, having essential project management skills aids in successfully bringing new concepts to fruition on time and on budget.

I would like to once again thank ASI for supporting me with a scholarship to attend the FIA Skills 3 course in Sydney recently.
As per the letter of acceptance of the 16th April I would like to report on the things leant during the program. I will simply lift out the matter of significance rather than give a session by session summary.
Gavin Coopey spoke on the 7 steps to building Corporate Partnerships. The key issue for St John (NSW) relate to having a clear sense of why and what of such partnership within our case for giving and then the capacity to deliver on the partnership. One dimension of partnership I had not considered was partnership for general and pledge donor acquisition which is the establishment of St John in proactive fundraising is a major strategic item.
